Jerusalem, April 27, 2026 (WAFA) – The Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Ramiz Akbarov, praised the Central Elections Commission for its success in managing the local elections held last Saturday, April 25 .
Al-Akbarov said in a post on the official account of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process on the “X” platform on Monday evening that the United Nations acknowledges the efforts of the Central Election Commission and its staff in ensuring a credible electoral process despite significant constraints, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and severe restrictions on movement and access in the West Bank .
He added: “These elections are an important step in the democratic process, and in the broader efforts to strengthen Palestinian institutions.”
