In a letter to US company PayPal, eleven members of the US Congress demanded that it halt its embargo on doing business with Palestinians and cease mistreating them while allowing settlements to use the online payment system.

In a letter to the corporation, Congressman Mark Pocan said it “discriminates against Palestinians” by denying them “equal access to the digital economy.”

She continued, “We are concerned that PayPal offers services to Israelis in the West Bank’s illegal settlements but not to Palestinians residing in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

She said that “the company’s current operational status violates the rights of the Palestinians.”

The letter emphasized that as one of the most widely used payment platforms worldwide, the firm has a duty to make sure that its services and operations are offered in a non-discriminatory manner.

The letter, signed by Earl Blumenauer, Betty McCollum, Rashida Tlaib, Greg Kassar, and other members of Congress, was handed today to Dan Schulman, CEO of PayPal.
