The government media office in the Gaza Strip refuted on Thursday the statements made by US Vice President J.D. Vance, in which he claimed that the aid entering the Gaza Strip currently is the highest it has been in the past five years.
In a statement, the office described Vance’s remarks as misleading to international public opinion, unrelated to reality, and reflecting a clear lack of awareness of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions experienced by more than 2.4 million people in the sector.
He stressed that these claims are in stark contrast to documented field data, as official figures indicate that the average number of trucks entering does not exceed 227 per day, while the actual need according to the humanitarian protocol is 600 trucks per day, with a compliance rate of only 37% of the minimum required.
He stressed that the amount of fuel trucks entering does not exceed 14% of the actual need, which reflects a deteriorating humanitarian situation and not an unprecedented influx of aid as claimed.
In a documented example for April 9, 2026, only 207 trucks entered the Gaza Strip, including 79 trucks of humanitarian aid, a number far below the minimum required, according to the statement.
He pointed out that ignoring these facts is a serious deception and covers up a systematic reality of strangling supplies and imposing a policy of restriction and starvation, while the occupation continues to violate its humanitarian obligations and fails to allow the entry of basic needs such as shelter materials, medical supplies, heavy equipment, and fuel.
The office also said, “This misinformation comes in the context of a very dangerous field reality where, since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025, the occupation has committed more than 2,400 violations of the agreement, resulting in 765 martyrs and 2,140 wounded, more than 99% of whom are civilians.”
He noted that the claim of an unprecedented influx of aid ignores the fact that the occupation has not committed to fully opening the Rafah crossing, nor has it committed to allowing the entry of tents, mobile homes, or the necessary equipment to remove rubble, which renders any talk of humanitarian improvement meaningless.
He stressed that falsifying the facts will not change the reality of the disaster and will not absolve any party of its legal and moral responsibilities.
The media office called on the US administration and Vice President Vance to be accurate and rely on credible sources. It also called on the international community to compel the occupation to implement its obligations in accordance with the humanitarian protocol and to ensure the immediate and sufficient flow of aid, fuel, and the urgent entry of shelter materials and heavy equipment.
He called for an end to the policy of restriction and starvation and for the provision of immediate international protection for civilians in the Gaza Strip, warning that continued international silence or the adoption of misleading narratives constitutes tacit complicity in deepening the humanitarian catastrophe.#Gaza Aid Office
