Beijing, April 17, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the People’s Republic of China, Jawad Awad, met today, Friday, with the Deputy Director-General of the Department of West Asia and North Africa in the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Yu Wei, at the headquarters of the Communist Party of China in the capital, Beijing .
Yu Wei affirmed China’s commitment to continued cooperation and efforts to strengthen Palestinian-Chinese party-to-party communication, contributing to the enhancement and development of Palestinian-Chinese relations across various fields. He also commended Ambassador Awad’s role and the progress witnessed in bilateral relations at all levels since he assumed his duties as Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the People’s Republic of China .
The Chinese official reiterated his country’s firm support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, praising the historical relations that unite Palestine and China since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, stressing that China will continue to exert efforts with the international community to achieve a ceasefire, advance reconstruction efforts, and find a permanent and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue .
For his part, Awad affirmed the State of Palestine’s appreciation for the steadfast positions of the People’s Republic of China – its leadership, government, and people – in support of the just cause of the Palestinian people and their legitimate and inalienable rights, foremost among them their right to establish their independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also affirmed the State of Palestine’s support for the People’s Republic of China’s hosting of the second Arab-Chinese Summit in Beijing in the middle of this year, given its strategic importance in strengthening Arab-Chinese cooperation and coordinating positions on issues of common interest, particularly the Palestinian cause .
Awad briefed his host on the upcoming Palestinian national entitlements, foremost among them the local elections, including in the city of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, as a confirmation of the unity of the Palestinian state, in addition to the eighth general conference of the Fatah movement and the elections of the Palestinian National Council, stressing that the year 2026 is the year of Palestinian democracy, and what this represents in terms of the importance of strengthening political participation and consolidating Palestinian democratic life.
