On Wednesday morning, extremist settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through the Mughrabi Gate, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces, to celebrate what is called “Independence Day” according to the Hebrew calendar. These incursions come in response to calls by extremist “Temple Mount” organizations to carry out a mass storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and raise the occupation flags inside it.The Islamic Waqf Department in occupied Jerusalem stated that 508 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, organized provocative tours in its courtyards, and performed Talmudic rituals in the eastern area of the mosque. She explained that the settlers, wearing shirts printed with the occupation flag, desecrated the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, sang in front of the Dome of the Rock, and performed “collective prostration” near the Bab al-Rahma prayer area. The occupation police continued to impose strict measures on the entry of worshippers to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and confiscated their identity cards at its outer gates and checked them.Extremist groups renewed their calls for large-scale incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, during which the occupation flag would be raised inside its courtyards, coinciding with what is called “Independence Day,” in a move that observers see as a dangerous escalation aimed at imposing a new reality in the mosque. These calls were accompanied by publications promoting what they described as “restoring Israeli sovereignty,” and calling for waving the Israeli flag inside the mosque.Palestinian calls for mobilization and travel to Al-Aqsa have intensified, in order to stand guard and confront the settlers’ storming and their intentions to collectively raise flags inside it.Every day, except for Fridays and Saturdays, Al-Aqsa Mosque is subjected to a series of violations and incursions by settlers and the occupation police, in an attempt to impose new Judaizing realities and establish complete control over it.
