Youssef Abu Ghanem, 60, was shot and killed in the Israeli city of Lod in the occupied Palestinian territory before daybreak on Wednesday.

Following a report of the crime and confirmation that a death had occurred, the police stated that they are looking for the offenders and that they have launched an inquiry into the incident.

The police also stated that the background of the crime “appears to be criminal” and that it is currently looking into its circumstances. Forensic investigators were working to gather evidence and proof, they also stated.

His 26-year-old nephew Hamza Abu Ghanem also perished in a gunshot one month ago.

The young man, Abu Ghanem, was shot at that time as he was going home from the mosque, where he had participated in the dawn prayer.

With the murder of Youssef Abu Ghanem today, there have been 70 murders committed against Arabs since the year’s commencement, including at least six women and two children.
