According to Israeli authorities, the event left at least five individuals injured, including a 70-year-old.

Five people were hurt when a Palestinian man plowed his car into a throng on a Jerusalem street; he was then fatally shot by a bystander, according to Israeli police.

The latest in a long line of instances during a spike in violence over the past year occurred on Monday when Israeli troops murdered a Palestinian during a raid in the occupied West Bank.

Five persons hurt by the car were treated by Israel’s ambulance service before being sent to a hospital, including a 70-year-old man who was in a serious but stable condition.

Videos that the Reuters news agency was able to collect showed a man sprawled down on the hood of a stopped automobile in the middle of the road as shots were being fired.

The 30-year-old driver of the automobile, who is from East Jerusalem, intentionally sought to hurt civilians, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was speaking at the beginning of ceremonies honoring Israel’s military dead.

“This terrorist attack, in this place, at this time, reminds us that the land of Israel and the State of Israel are acquired through many trials and tribulations,” the speaker said.

violence is on the rise

This year has seen an increase in Israeli-Palestinian violence, with frequent military raids and settler violence occurring in the midst of a wave of Palestinian attacks. Since January, more than 90 Palestinians, at least 19 Israelis, and foreigners have died.

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man earlier on Monday while conducting a raid on the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp close to the West Bank city of Jericho.

Two individuals were seen escaping the location during the action. Live fire was used by the soldiers in response. Hits were located, according to the army. It did not go into detail as to why the two Palestinians were singled out.

The governor of Jericho was quoted by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA as claiming that three people were injured and one man was shot dead by the soldiers.

According to the governor’s declaration, the army did not give the man’s family possession of his body.

Separately, the advocacy group for Palestinian prisoners reported that Israeli security forces had made 30 arrests in the West Bank over the weekend and early on Monday.

During the Middle East conflict of 1967, Israel conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians see as the central region of a future independent state. Since then, it has annexed East Jerusalem in a move that is not accepted by other countries.
