Ramallah, December 30, 2025 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas thanked the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his continued support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
In a telegram he sent to his Algerian counterpart, he said: “ I am sending this message to my brother, His Excellency the President, on the occasion of the conclusion of Algeria’s term for the fourth time in its history, occupying a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, representing the Arab Group, during which it presented a model to be emulated and witnessed by the world, in terms of experience, wisdom, consideration of values, justice and equality, and achieved its goals from occupying this important diplomatic position, with the Palestinian cause at the top of its priorities.”
He added: “On behalf of the State and people of Palestine and on my own behalf, we extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to Your Excellency and, through you, to the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Permanent Mission of Algeria to the United Nations. We especially mention His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and the Permanent Representative in New York, Ambassador Amar Benjamaa, who, under Your Excellency’s guidance, have made tireless efforts, performed professionally, and provided just support to the Palestinian cause and people during one of the most difficult periods we are going through, amidst a brutal war on the Gaza Strip and attacks targeting our people in the cities and villages of the West Bank and Jerusalem.”
His Excellency explained that this is not strange for Algeria, with its leadership and brotherly people, who have supported the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights on all levels and in all stages of their struggle, and the brotherly and authentic Algerian role in uniting the Palestinian ranks, and hosting the Palestinian factions, as well as hosting the national councils during which the Palestine Liberation Organization declared the independence of the State of Palestine. Also, no one is unaware of the financial support from Algeria to support the steadfastness of our Palestinian people and their national institutions in the darkest circumstances.
In closing the telegram, he renewed his thanks and gratitude, asking God to preserve the President of Algeria, with all health and happiness, and to bless Algeria, its people and government, with His protection and security, and with the achievement of more progress and prosperity.
