Last night and at dawn on Thursday, the Israeli occupation forces launched a new arrest campaign targeting a number of citizens in the West Bank governorates, including released prisoners and a journalist, as part of their ongoing escalation against the Palestinian people.
Local sources reported that the arrests were concentrated in Ramallah, Hebron, and Qalqilya, and included extensive raids and searches of homes, in addition to setting up military checkpoints and arresting citizens on the roads.
In Ramallah, the occupation forces re-arrested the released prisoner Ahmed Al-Saifi, after storming and searching his family’s house in the town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah, in the central occupied West Bank, one day before his wedding.
The editor, “Al-Saifi,” had been released several months earlier as part of an exchange deal with the Palestinian resistance, and had spent 16 consecutive years in the occupation’s prisons.
The occupation forces also arrested the young man Ward Basel Al-Barghouthi, after storming and searching his family’s house in the village of Kafr Ein, northwest of Ramallah, and arrested the young man Muslim Abu Aliya, during a raid on the village of Al-Mughair, east of the city.
The occupation forces re-arrested the released prisoners: Qassam Al-Khatib and Sheikh Mashhour Abu Daher, after raiding their homes in the town of Abu Shkheidem, north of Ramallah.
In Hebron, the occupation forces arrested the released prisoner, journalist Musab Qafisha, after raiding his home in the city of Hebron. It should be noted that he was released a year ago from the occupation prisons after a year of administrative detention, and was arrested several weeks ago by the Palestinian Authority security services.
The occupation forces also arrested citizens Hassan Muhammad Ahmad Tafesh and Amir Adnan Ahmad Tafesh, after raiding their homes in the town of Al-Shuyoukh, northeast of Hebron. The occupation confiscated two vehicles from the town during the raid and arrested the young man Noah Al-Hashlamoun from Hebron.
In Bethlehem, the occupation forces stormed the Aida camp to the south, and arrested the released prisoner Saif al-Din Darwish, and the young man Abdul Salam Abu Srour, after raiding and searching their homes and vandalizing their contents.
In Qalqilya, the occupation forces stormed the city and the town of Baqa al-Hatab to the east, and the Israeli arrests included: Saif Qaraan from the city of Qalqilya, and citizen Imtiaz Hakam Rafiq, the mother of the perpetrator of the Kedumim operation, from the town of Baqa al-Hatab to the east of the city.
Local sources pointed out that the occupation army raided the home of the family of the perpetrator of the “Kedumim operation” at dawn today, during a raid on the village of Baqa al-Hatab, east of Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank.
In Nablus, the occupation forces stormed several neighborhoods and camps in the city, including storming and searching homes and residential buildings; no arrests were reported.
The occupation forces fired live ammunition, sound bombs, and toxic gas at the youths during a raid on the vicinity of the academy in the Rafidia neighborhood, west of Nablus. Meanwhile, a young man was wounded by occupation bullets during a raid on the vicinity of An-Najah National University and the town of Beit Wazan in the city of Nablus.
The occupation forces stormed a house in the Khallat al-Amoud area, east of Nablus, searched it, tampered with its contents, and arrested citizen Abu George Jamous, in addition to arresting the young man Muhammad Ali al-Quni from the town of Kafr Qalil, east of Nablus.
These arrests come as part of the occupation’s ongoing policy of pursuing released prisoners and restricting activists and journalists, amid escalating daily violations against Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank.
