On Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to citizens until Thursday evening, under the pretext of Jewish holidays.Director of Hebron Endowments, Amjad Karajah, condemned the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque under the pretext of securing settlers’ celebration of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. He considered this a blatant violation of its sanctity and a provocative assault on Muslims’ right to access their places of worship. In this context, the occupation forces tightened their military measures and closed all military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque, to secure the settlers’ celebrations of the so-called “Feast of Tabernacles” in the mosque and its courtyards. The forces increased their presence at all entrances leading to the mosque, to ensure settlers’ access to the city of Hebron and the archaeological sites. For the third day, occupation forces imposed a curfew on the Jaber, Salaymeh, Ghaith, and Wadi al-Hussein neighborhoods adjacent to the Kiryat Arba settlement, built on Palestinian land and property east of Hebron.Forces prevented students from reaching their schools and tightened military measures in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood, Shuhada Street, and Jabal al-Rahma.
