Jerusalem, March 16, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces attacked worshippers performing the Isha and Taraweeh prayers in the vicinity of Bab al-Sahira, in the center of occupied Jerusalem, on Monday evening.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation forces fired stun grenades at the worshippers and arrested a number of young men.
In the same context, the occupation authorities threatened to close “Al-Nasr Restaurant” in Khan Al-Zeit market in occupied Jerusalem, and prevented its owner from preparing and distributing hot meals to residents and passersby in the Bab Al-Amoud area, which are provided by donors as a charitable act during the holy month of Ramadan.
The occupation authorities continue to close the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent worshippers from accessing it, for the seventeenth day in a row, under the pretext of security conditions related to the American-Israeli war on Iran .
For the first time since 1967, the occupation prevented worshippers from performing prayers and seclusion in Al-Aqsa Mosque, as worshippers were absent from the last Friday of Ramadan, and the observance of Laylat al-Qadr was prevented in its pure precincts.
The Jerusalem Governorate had warned of the dangerous escalation in the incitement rhetoric led by the so-called extremist “Temple Mount organizations” against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of its continued closure.
She stressed that what is happening cannot be considered “temporary security measures” as the occupation authorities claim, but rather falls within a political and ideological path aimed at changing the existing religious, historical and legal reality in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
