Salfit, December 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces continue, for the sixth day in a row, to close the entrance to the town of Al-Zawiya, west of Salfit, with earth mounds .
The mayor of Al-Zawiya, Amir Rafiq Shuqair, told Wafa that the occupation forces continue to close the town’s entrance with earth mounds, which has caused an almost complete paralysis in the movement of citizens and deprived them of access to their jobs and basic services .
Shuqair added that this closure is accompanied by frequent night raids inside the town, including raiding citizens’ homes and conducting field investigations, amid a heavy deployment of occupation forces in the vicinity of the town .
He pointed out that the continued closure is exacerbating the humanitarian situation inside the town, especially for kidney dialysis patients and those with chronic diseases, as they face great difficulty in moving around and reaching hospitals to receive treatment.
He explained that this situation calls for coordination with the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, but the occupation forces continue to obstruct movement, preventing the people from obtaining the most basic medical needs and medicines .
He pointed out that there is difficulty in bringing goods, supplies and fuel into the town due to the continued closure, which exacerbates the economic burdens on both residents and merchants .
Shukair stressed that the municipality is following up with the relevant authorities on all developments, warning of the serious humanitarian and economic consequences if the closure continues, and calling on human rights and international organizations to intervene urgently to stop this arbitrary measure that affects the lives of more than 20,000 citizens of the region .
