Jerusalem, March 10, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces continue to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for the eleventh consecutive day, preventing worshippers from praying there, under the pretext of security conditions related to the ongoing war with Iran .
The continued closure of the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan is a dangerous precedent, as it is the first time since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967 that Tarawih prayers and Itikaf are being prevented inside Al-Aqsa Mosque .
For its part, the Jerusalem Governorate warned of a dangerous escalation in the incitement rhetoric led by the so-called extremist “Temple” organizations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of the continued closure measures .
The governorate stressed that what is happening cannot be considered temporary security measures as the occupation authorities claim, but rather falls within a political and ideological path aimed at changing the existing religious, historical and legal reality in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque .
