Jerusalem, February 15, 2026 (WAFA) – The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, head of the Supreme Fatwa Council, called on citizens to look for the crescent moon of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, after sunset on Tuesday, 29 Sha’ban 1447 AH, corresponding to February 17, 2026 .
The Grand Mufti urged anyone who sees the crescent moon to contact the Palestinian Fatwa House office in Jerusalem, or the Fatwa House office in his area, to give his testimony, or to call the following numbers:

He explained that the sighting of the crescent moon of Ramadan is confirmed by the testimony of one just witness, as it marks the beginning of the fasting ritual .
He also called on citizens to follow the official statement that will be issued Tuesday evening via Voice of Palestine Radio, Palestine TV, and the Palestinian satellite channel.
