With the martyrdom of the young man Awda, the number of martyrs killed by settler gunfire and attacks since the beginning of this month rises to 7 martyrs, as settlers carried out more than 192 attacks during the two weeks of war and prevailing regional tension, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
The commission stated that the number of martyrs who were killed by settlers’ bullets since the beginning of this year has risen to 8 martyrs, while the number has risen since October 7, 2023 to 44 martyrs, amid escalating settler attacks on Palestinian villages, towns and communities in the West Bank .
The head of the commission, Minister Mu’ayyad Sha’ban, affirmed that the ongoing attacks carried out by settlers against Palestinian villages reflect an organized escalation aimed at spreading terror among citizens and restricting them in their lands, stressing that these crimes are carried out under the direct protection of the occupation forces, and within the framework of a policy aimed at consolidating colonial expansion at the expense of the Palestinian presence.
The commission said in a report issued on Friday that the settlers’ exploitation of this turbulent climate to intensify their aggression against Palestinian villages and communities has taken on a more organized and widespread character, including direct shooting at citizens, burning homes and property, and imposing new field realities on the ground .
She stressed that these attacks have become part of a broader dynamic, seeking to exploit the moment of regional and international preoccupation to accelerate the change in the geographical and demographic reality in the West Bank, at the expense of the Palestinian presence .
She indicated that these attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Hebron with 47 attacks, Tubas with 42 attacks, Nablus with 35 attacks, Bethlehem with 14 attacks, Jerusalem with 12 attacks, and others in Salfit, Jericho and Qalqilya .
