The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir on Wednesday, at the head of groups of settlers, was a deliberate provocative move that coincides with the 35th anniversary of the first Al-Aqsa massacre, committed by Israeli occupation forces on October 8, 1990.The movement added in a statement received by Safa News Agency that this incursion reflects the fascist mentality that governs the occupation government, which deliberately violates the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and the feelings of Muslims around the world. She explained that this incursion, which coincided with the anniversary of the massacre, was not a one-off event, but rather an aggressive message seeking to perpetuate the reality of temporal and spatial division and impose Israeli control over Al-Aqsa Mosque, as part of a comprehensive Judaization project targeting the Arab and Islamic presence in Jerusalem. She stressed that Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque are a red line, and that continued attacks and incursions will not change the fact that Al-Aqsa is a purely Islamic mosque. She stressed that our people will remain faithful to their covenant, adhering to their rights and sanctities, and defending them by all legitimate means.Hamas called on the masses of our people in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the occupied territories to remain steadfast and to have a large presence in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to protect it from the occupation’s schemes. It called on Arab and Islamic countries and international organizations to assume their political, legal, and moral responsibilities in halting this ongoing aggression.
