On Monday evening, the extremist Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, from the direction of the Mughrabi Gate, under heavy guard from the Israeli occupation forces .
The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that Ben Gafir toured the courtyards of the mosque, having entered it from the Mughrabi Gate to the Chain Gate and then returned by the same route, amid a heavy deployment of occupation police officers.
She added that the occupation forces tightened their military measures around the Al-Aqsa Mosque and closed the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem, coinciding with the raid.
This incursion comes amid escalating calls from colonial groups to intensify incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and is part of a series of incursions carried out by the extremist Ben Gvir into the mosque, where he has stormed it about 14 times since he took office in 2023, in the context of an escalating policy towards the mosque.
The Israeli occupation authorities continue to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the 38th consecutive day, under the pretext of a “state of emergency” and security conditions.
The occupation authorities are exploiting this pretext to strengthen their control over Al-Aqsa Mosque, at a time when popular and Jerusalemite calls are escalating to mobilize towards the nearest points and military checkpoints surrounding it, in an attempt to break the siege imposed on it, and to force its reopening.
