The Moroccan Justice and Development Party’s Women’s Organization condemned the participation of Israeli representatives in the “Global Women’s Forum for Peace,” scheduled to be held in Essaouira from September 19 to 21.
In a statement on Monday, the organization announced a boycott of the forum, calling for engagement in all national and international initiatives that support Palestine and reject normalization with Israel.
She also called on women’s, human rights, and civil society organizations to join the boycott campaign and refuse to participate in this forum, which she described as “normalizing.”
The organization said that the participation of representatives from “Israel” in the forum is a “provocative step that strikes at the heart of Morocco’s historical and unwavering commitments to the just Palestinian cause and legitimizes the war of genocide being waged by the criminal Zionist entity in Gaza and all of Palestine,” according to the statement.
The organization considered Israel’s participation in the forum “a blatant challenge to the feelings of the Moroccan people and all free people around the world, and a disregard for the ongoing crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people, including genocide, starvation, siege, and forced displacement, especially against defenseless women and children.”
The “Women Warriors for Peace” movement, a French non-governmental organization that brings together women activists of different faiths to promote peace, is organizing the forum in the Moroccan city of Essaouira under the title: “The International Women’s Forum for Peace.”
According to the organizers, the forum aims to discuss women’s issues with the participation of activists from various countries, including Israel, Palestine, Morocco, and European and African countries, in addition to launching an “international call for women for peace.”
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving 64,905 Palestinians dead and 164,926 wounded, most of them children and women, and causing a famine that has killed 425 Palestinians, including 145 children
