Gaza – Translated by Safa
The Associated Press questioned what remained of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas last October.
As the bodies of about 20 Palestinians, killed in Israeli raids, arrived at Gaza hospitals on Wednesday, the director of one of these hospitals expressed a question that has been circulating for months throughout the war-torn sector.
“Where is the ceasefire? Where are the mediators?” wrote Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Hospital, on his Facebook page.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 556 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the US-brokered truce went into effect in October, including 24 on Wednesday and 30 on Saturday.
She noted that key provisions of the agreement, such as the start of the Gaza reconstruction process, remain stalled.
The opening of the Rafah crossing had raised hopes for further progress, but the number of people allowed to cross on Monday did not exceed 50.
The agency noted that the core issues that the agreement sought to address, most notably the future administration of the Gaza Strip, were met with significant reservations, given the absence of a clear timetable presented by the United States.
The agreement also stipulated an immediate flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including equipment for debris removal and infrastructure rehabilitation. However, the United Nations and aid organizations confirmed that the amount of aid reaching nearly two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip remains insufficient due to customs clearance problems and other logistical delays.cease-fire
