Khalil al-Hayya, head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), confirmed that the movement had given mediators the freedom to choose the members of the committee set to administer Gaza, which will have full powers in the Strip.
Al-Hayya said in an interview broadcast by Al Jazeera on Sunday evening that there are national issues that Hamas does not alone own, but rather are owned by all of the nation, explaining that the movement has held numerous meetings with factions, including Fatah.
He added that what was agreed upon with the Palestinian factions is almost the same issue as what was agreed upon with the Fatah movement, noting that the movement’s statement, in its first clause, confirmed the formation of the administrative committee that the mediators are seeking to form to assume responsibility for administering Gaza. He noted that Hamas has agreed
to the group of names proposed by
 the Egyptians.
He explained that the movement had given Egyptians a list of more than 40 names of public figures with no political affiliations nearly four months ago, asking them to choose whomever they deemed appropriate. A civilian police force would be deployed under the administrative committee in the Gaza Strip.
He also explained that all factions agreed to form an international body whose mission would be reconstruction. Its mission would be to raise funds for reconstruction and oversee it, and we want to expedite this process.
Al-Hayya stressed the need to maintain the ceasefire, allow aid flows, and begin reconstruction immediately, calling on the international community and mediators to expedite the process and begin reconstruction immediately.
He explained that the resistance’s weapons are linked to the existence of occupation and aggression, and are still subject to discussion with the factions and mediators.
He added, “We will not give the occupation a pretext to resume the war on Gaza,” noting that the occupation has failed to achieve its goals over the past two years and lacks the motivation to return to war.
Al-Hayya pointed out that American statements, including those of President Trump, confirm that the war is indeed over, considering the targeting of Doha and the unprecedented and disastrous failure in Israel’s history to be a setback for the occupation.
