On Thursday morning, dozens of settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque, after it was reopened following a 40-day closure by the occupation authorities.
In a dangerous precedent, settlers performed public Talmudic rituals in the mosque, after the occupation forces extended the period of morning incursions.
The incursions came after the mosque was emptied of worshippers following dawn prayers, to pave the way for the settlers’ incursions.
The raid also comes as the new extension to the morning raid period begins, starting at 6:30 am instead of 7:00 am as was previously the case.
The so-called “Temple organizations” announced an extension of the incursions by an additional half hour, from 6:30 to 11:30 am, and then from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, bringing the total to 6.5 hours daily.
The Jerusalem Governorate described this extension as a dangerous escalation that affects the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and constitutes a blatant provocation to the feelings of Muslims in Jerusalem, Palestine and the entire world.
She stressed that this extension accelerated the imposition of new realities within the Al-Aqsa Mosque and reinforced the policy of temporal division, especially with its reopening following a 40-day closure.
The settlers’ incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque date back to 2003, when they began on a daily basis under the protection of the occupation forces, before moving in 2008 to allocating specific times for them, which at the beginning were only three morning hours from 7:00 to 10:00.
Since then, these times have gradually expanded year after year, as part of a systematic policy to impose a new reality within the mosque, until today they have reached about six and a half hours daily, in the context of consecrating the time division and seeking to impose it completely.
It is worth noting that Al-Aqsa Mosque was closed for 40 days until yesterday, under the pretext of the war on Iran.# Al-Aqsa settlers
