Prisoner institutions confirmed that the number of Palestinian and Arab prisoners in the occupation prisons exceeded 9,600 prisoners, male and female, until the beginning of April 2026, an increase of 83% compared to what it was before the war of extermination.
In a statement issued on the occasion of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, she explained that the number of female prisoners reached 86, including two female prisoners who were detained before the aggression, and 25 female prisoners who are administratively detained, while the number of child prisoners reached about 350 children, distributed between the “Ofer” and “Megiddo” prisons, in addition to two girls in “Damon” prison.
She pointed out that the number of administrative detainees has risen unprecedentedly to more than 3,532 detainees, including women and children, after their number before the aggression was about 1,320 detainees, noting that the majority of them are former prisoners, in addition to multiple categories including students, journalists, human rights activists, deputies and activists.
She added that the number of detainees classified by the occupation authorities as “unlawful combatants” reached 1,251 detainees as of the beginning of April 2026, a number that does not include those held in the occupation army camps, which means that about 50% of the total number of prisoners are being held without charges or trials.
She indicated that the number of sick prisoners has witnessed a remarkable increase, as most prisoners suffer from various diseases, as a result of injuries or the deterioration of their health conditions due to policies of repression and denial of treatment.
Regarding the martyred prisoners, she reported that their number since 1967 has reached 326 martyrs, including 89 who were martyred after the start of the aggression, stressing that dozens of martyrs from Gaza detainees are still subject to enforced disappearance.
She also pointed out that the number of bodies of martyred prisoners held by Israel has reached 97, compared to 11 bodies before the aggression, reflecting a significant increase in these numbers .
