Cairo, April 3, 2026 (WAFA) – Riyad Al-Amour (56 years old), a released detainee who was deported to the Arab Republic of Egypt, from the city of Bethlehem, died today, Friday, after a struggle with illness.
The health condition of the released detainee Al-Amour, who is one of the most prominent detainees who were subjected to systematic medical crimes inside the Israeli occupation prisons for 23 years, had seriously deteriorated, until he was released as part of the “ceasefire agreement” that took place in October of last year .
Al-Amour suffered from severe heart problems, and during his 23 years of imprisonment, he waited more than 10 years to have his pacemaker changed.
Following the genocide, he, like all detainees, was subjected to compounded crimes, unprecedented acts of torture and abuse, and he was released in a very difficult health condition. However, he recently underwent surgery, which led to a serious deterioration and a decrease in oxygen levels, and he was transferred to intensive care .
Editor Al-Amour was subjected to persecution before his arrest in 2002, and later he faced a harsh and lengthy investigation, during which the occupation forces subjected him to severe torture, until he lost hearing in one of his ears as a result .
A group of released deportees are suffering from extremely difficult and dangerous health conditions as a result of the medical crimes committed against them during their years of detention, especially in the aftermath of the genocide .
