Cairo, April 2, 2026 (WAFA) – A delegation of Palestinian religious leaders, headed by the Chief Justice of Palestine, Advisor to the President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habash, and including the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, and the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Muhammad Najm, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Endowments, Osama Al-Azhari, ways to enhance religious and intellectual cooperation and issues of common interest, foremost among them supporting the people of Jerusalem and protecting the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from Judaization plans.
During the meeting held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Thursday, the delegation called on the leaders of the Islamic world, and religious leaders in particular, to fulfill their religious and moral duty towards the violations and crimes committed against Islamic holy sites in Palestine by the Israeli occupation, especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is at risk of demolition and Judaization .
During the meeting, the delegation reviewed the latest developments related to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem in general, stressing the importance of a unified Arab and Islamic stance in rejecting attempts at Judaization and division in its spatial and temporal dimensions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque .
The Palestinian delegation expressed its appreciation for the Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian cause in all local, regional and international forums, and for speaking out on behalf of the Palestinian right in various international forums in the face of the occupation’s arrogance of power and its violation of all religious and humanitarian norms, international charters and treaties .
For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments welcomed the Palestinian delegation, stressing the deep historical and fraternal relations that unite the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples, and emphasizing that the Palestinian cause will remain at the forefront of the priorities of the Egyptian state, leadership and people.
He pointed out that Egypt has spared no effort in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that achieving a just and comprehensive peace will only be achieved through ending the occupation and recognizing the full rights of the Palestinian people.
The minister pointed out that the current violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied territories reveal the extent of the moral and legal collapse of the occupying authority, which has committed every crime and vice in cold blood. He stressed that the current closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque is unprecedented in nearly a thousand years, and this represents a stain of shame on the forehead of the Israeli occupation, which has chosen to stand on the dark side of history.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Diab Al-Louh, and the Secretary-General of the Sharia Judicial Council, Judge Jad Al-Ja’bari .
