Jerusalem, March 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces prevented worshippers from performing Taraweeh prayers in several neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday evening, while the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound remained closed .
Local sources reported that the occupation forces deployed around Damascus Gate and Herod’s Gate, in addition to the vicinity of Al-Rashidiya School, and prevented worshippers from performing Taraweeh prayers, forcing them to leave the place .
She added that the occupation forces pushed the worshippers towards the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood, in an attempt to disperse them and prevent any gatherings for prayer .
In this context, the occupation forces fired toxic tear gas canisters at the entrance to the Friday market, which led to a state of tension in the place .
These measures come amid ongoing military tightening in the city of Jerusalem, especially in the vicinity of the Old City, and preventing worshippers from accessing the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque .
