Jerusalem, March 15, 2026 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation has turned the Old City of Jerusalem into a military barracks, deploying hundreds of its police officers from the Wadi al-Joz area to Damascus Gate and down to Lions’ Gate.
The Jerusalem Governorate stated that the Isha and Taraweeh prayers were held on the 27th night of Ramadan in the streets, in the Bab al-Sahira and Bab al-Amud areas, amid a complete and tight closure of the Old City, adding that the occupation forces besieged the worshippers at Bab al-Sahira, suppressed them, and prevented Jerusalemites from entering the Old City and praying in Al-Aqsa Mosque and observing Laylat al-Qadr in its pure precincts .
The occupation authorities continue to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent worshippers from accessing it for the sixteenth consecutive day, under the pretext of security conditions related to the war on Iran.
For the first time since 1967, the occupation prevented worshippers from performing prayers and seclusion in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as worshippers were absent from the last Friday of Ramadan .
The Jerusalem Governorate had warned of the dangerous escalation in the incitement speech led by the so-called extremist “Temple Mount organizations” against Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of the continued closure measures, stressing that what is happening cannot be considered temporary security measures as the occupation claims, but rather falls within a political and ideological path aimed at changing the existing religious, historical and legal reality in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque .
