Singapore, January 29, 2026 (WAFA) – The price of gold in spot trading jumped to an unprecedented level on Thursday, exceeding $5,500 an ounce, continuing its sharp rise as investors flocked to safe-haven assets. Silver also recorded its highest level ever .
The price of gold rose (2.9) percent to $5,554.76 per ounce after reaching $5,591.61 earlier .
Prices broke the $5,000 barrier for the first time on Monday, and rose by more than $500 during four sessions .
In other metals, silver rose 1.5 percent to $118.36 an ounce after hitting an all-time high of $119.34 earlier .
Platinum rose (0.1 percent) to $2,697.54 an ounce after hitting a record high of $2,918.80 .
Palladium rose (0.5) percent to $2,091.15 an ounce .
