Schools and kindergartens in the town of Kafr Aqab were evacuated following a large-scale raid on the town.

Jerusalem, January 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a large-scale military offensive this morning in the northern part of occupied Jerusalem, including storming the town of Kafr Aqab and the vicinity of Qalandia camp, under the pretext of strengthening control along the apartheid wall, and began demolishing Palestinian structures.
The Jerusalem Governorate stated in a statement that the occupation forces stormed a number of residential buildings in the area and proceeded to forcibly evacuate some of them, in conjunction with the heavy deployment of soldiers and snipers on the balconies and roofs of tall buildings, while they fired tear gas and sound bombs, in addition to live and rubber bullets .
The raid also included issuing fines to a large number of citizens’ vehicles, and deliberately damaging a number of others, in the context of the policy of collective punishment pursued by the occupation forces against the citizens in the area .
These attacks coincided with a widespread deployment of occupation forces in Jerusalem Street adjacent to Qalandia camp, and their deployment in Institute Street and Airport Street, where occupation vehicles removed sections of the annexation and apartheid wall at the end of Airport Street, to facilitate the incursion of dozens of military vehicles and vehicles that were present in the vicinity and lands of the former Jerusalem International Airport, in addition to the incursion of dozens of infantry soldiers into the place .
This raid occurred at the time when students and children were leaving for their schools, causing a state of extreme tension and confusion, and forcing educational institutions in the area to suspend classes in order to ensure the safety of students and children .
This process falls within a systematic policy to tighten colonial control over the Jerusalem area, in light of claims in official Israeli reports that recently acknowledged the existence of wide gaps in the wall’s path, especially in the city’s vicinity, which the occupation is exploiting as a pretext to intensify its military and punitive measures against citizens .
