Ramallah, January 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Deputy President of the State of Palestine, Hussein al-Sheikh, discussed on Monday with British Consul General Helen Winterton and French Consul General Nicolas Cassianides the latest political and humanitarian developments, following the announcement of the Peace Council and its executive committee, along with the technocrat committee, in implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
During the meeting, the Sheikh stressed the importance of moving forward with political efforts aimed at achieving stability, and ensuring the return of the Palestinian Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.
The Vice President pointed to the importance of the political and legal link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip within the framework of the unity of the land and institutions, and the need to work to ensure that war does not resume, and to accelerate the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to relieve our people, in addition to supporting reconstruction efforts.
The Sheikh stressed the need to stop settler attacks in the West Bank, emphasizing that the continuation of these violations undermines the chances of stability and violates international laws and legitimacy.
