During the first phase of the project, approximately 90,000 citizens in 22 communities will benefit at a cost of 30 million euros.
The first phase includes the construction of 45 kilometers of transmission lines, two pumping stations in Aboud and Mazraat al-Nubani, and two reservoirs with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters each in Beit Rima and Umm Safa.
Al-Mimi: The Water Authority is working on establishing regional water facilities in a number of governorates.
Al-Maimi: We are working to advance the water and sanitation sectors by developing legislative and institutional systems, improving the quality of services, and ensuring fairness in their distribution.
Ramallah, November 12, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa laid the foundation stone today for the wholesale water supply system connection points project – Aboud connection point, which is one of the strategic projects aimed at developing the Palestinian water sector and enhancing national water security .
The event was attended by the Prime Minister, the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, Laila Ghannam, the Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Dawas Dawas, the Head of the Palestinian Water Authority, Ziad Mimi, the Commander of the Military Liaison Unit, Major General Nasser Al-Bourini, the European Union Representative in Palestine, Alexander Stutzmann, the Deputy French Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Romain Le Floch, the Head of the Aboud Village Council, Elias Azar, and a number of official and prominent figures .
Mustafa stressed that this event is the best response to the occupation and its practices, whether in the West Bank, Jerusalem, or the Gaza Strip, that our people are determined to live, build, and achieve independence, no matter how long it takes and no matter how great the challenges .
He said: “Aboud and the surrounding area that benefit from this project are symbols of the Palestinian people’s struggle and their determination to challenge the occupation and continue with reform, development and progress .”
He added: “Water is the source of life, development, economy and resilience. We thank our partners in the European Union and the French government, and everyone who contributed and participated in this project, whose message is clear: the Palestinian people deserve independence and a dignified life .”
Mustafa stressed that in this situation, in which the occupation is trying to end all that we have built in terms of struggle and achievements, as it tries to wipe Gaza off the map, Judaize Jerusalem, and strangle the West Bank every day and by all means, our response is that we will not weaken, we will not despair, and we will continue to stand firm, develop, reform, and work to serve the sons of our people .
