After billions of dollars were poured into trying to stop him, and after Donald Trump explicitly called for people not to vote for him, and after incitement that reflected racism and hegemony, Zahran Mamdani, a supporter of Gaza, was crowned mayor of the bride of the United States, New York City.
American media announced last night that Muslim Zahran Mamdani won the New York mayoral election, becoming the first Muslim to head the New York municipality, after a fierce incitement campaign led by the Jewish lobby and the American presidency, represented by Donald Trump, to prevent his election.
Following his victory, Mamdani said, “His decisive win shows the way to defeat US President Donald Trump, who has been a fierce critic of the young Muslim socialist’s policies,” adding, “Today we have ended the era of hegemonic politics, and we will fight anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.”
Zahran was known for his solidarity with Gaza throughout the war of extermination and his support for the Palestinian people, which made his victory a shock to the official Israeli level, which described the day of his victory as “a black day for Israel and the world.”
Most occupation officials considered Zahran’s victory to be part of a broader trend seeking to challenge “Israel” in the world, because we are facing a development that will tighten the noose around it within its biggest ally in the world, which is the United States.
The Fall of the Novel
Political analyst Imad Awad told Safa News Agency that Mamdani’s victory indicates a change in public sentiment and the collapse of the moral narrative that was adopted by the United States and, behind it, Israel.
He adds, “There is no doubt that a number of factors led to Mamdani’s victory and the fall of the Trump-Netanyahu-Israel alliance this year, because the world has begun to discover that this line is fascist and invasive.”
He also believes that Trump’s behavior within the United States was a factor in Mamdani’s victory, and that his behavior was extremely bad and no longer appealed to many Americans.
Awad asserts that Mamdani’s victory is a blow to the Jewish and Zionist project. Therefore, Israel considered his victory one of the strongest blows it has received, despite the millions spent to avoid this victory. Consequently, it reflects part of Israel’s bad image that is spreading in the United States of America.
Inversion of standards
From his point of view, Mamdani’s victory reflects that the world as a whole, including within the United States, is ripe for a revolution in standards and in dealing with the international system, which operates within a moral framework that is appropriate to the victorious powers and not appropriate to the truth or close to a common denominator for all nations and peoples.
He emphasizes that one of the reasons for Mamdani’s victory is his criticism of Israel and his support for the Palestinian cause, adding that this was reflected in the Jews, 30% of whom voted for him.
“Therefore, we say that the Jewish lobby lost the elections in the most important city in the United States of America, and this is not an easy loss, because Israel practiced genocide and succeeded, as it imagines, in achieving its goal from it, but it failed to achieve its goals,” Awad says.
He continues, “Yes, it succeeded in the propaganda goal and the goal of displacing the population and eliminating the Palestinian cause. Therefore, these voices that are rising, part of which is what happened in New York, are the result of what Israel has done and what America is doing.”
Although Awad believes that Mamdani’s victory will not have a direct impact on the Palestinian reality, he affirms that it is a referendum that expresses that the false moral system led by America, and behind it “Israel”, has begun to collapse.
With American support, Israel committed a war of genocide in Gaza in October 2023, and for two years, it killed more than 60,000 people, wounded hundreds of thousands, in addition to more than 9,000 missing under the rubble.
