New York City witnessed protests against the genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza and against the participation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On Friday, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Times Square, one of New York’s busiest areas, waving Palestinian flags and banners denouncing the genocide in Gaza and condemning Netanyahu’s visit to the United Nations headquarters.
Some demonstrators carried a model of Netanyahu wearing a prison uniform, with the words “War Criminal Netanyahu” written on it.
After delivering speeches and chanting slogans in Times Square, the protesters marched toward 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue, amid tight police security.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza with American support, leaving 65,549 martyrs and 167,518 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
