The Moroccan Zahra Forum reiterated its rejection of Israel’s participation in the “International Women for Peace Forum,” scheduled to be held in the western city of Essaouira from September 19 to 21.
The forum, a coalition of women’s non-governmental organizations, said Thursday it rejects “all forms of cultural and feminist normalization disguised as slogans of peace.”
The forum condemned “various attempts to whitewash the crimes of the Zionist occupation, including the so-called International Women for Peace Forum scheduled to be held in Essaouira.”
He added that the forum decided to organize a protest to coincide with the launch of the conference, “to alert national public opinion to the danger of exploiting feminist slogans to advance agendas that serve normalization and dilute the authentic feminist struggle.”
The Zahra Forum’s call coincided with the women’s sector of Morocco’s Justice and Charity Movement (the country’s largest Islamist group) confirming on Wednesday that it would boycott the “International Women for Peace Forum,” describing it as “whitewashing the occupation.”
The International Feminist Forum is organized by the French non-governmental organization “Fighters for Peace,” under the slogan “Women for Peace.”
According to the organizers, the forum will feature the participation of female activists from several countries, including Morocco, Palestine, and Israel, as well as European and African countries. It will also include the launch of an “International Call for Women for Peace.”
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving 65,141 Palestinians dead and 165,925 injured, most of them children and women, and causing a famine that has claimed the lives of 435 Palestinians, including 147 children.
