Jordan condemned the Republic of Fiji’s opening of an embassy to Israel in the occupied Palestinian city of Jerusalem, considering it to undermine the international will to establish an independent Palestinian state.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, in which it condemned “in the strongest terms the Republic of Fiji’s opening of an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.”
The ministry affirmed that “Fiji’s opening of an embassy in Jerusalem is a rejected and condemned step, and a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.”
She considered it “an undermining of the international will to recognize an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).”
She stressed that “any measures or decisions aimed at changing the status of Jerusalem or its legal status are null, void, and illegal.”
She reiterated that “the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region is through the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
