A massive charity event was held in London as part of the “Together for Palestine” initiative to raise funds for Palestinians and raise awareness of the situation in Gaza.
The concert, held Wednesday evening, is one of the largest charity events in Britain and features a host of international film and music stars, under the direction of British singer Brian Eno.
The concert was held at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London, at 7:00 PM GMT.
The event aims to raise millions of dollars in donations for Palestinian organizations such as the Welfare Association, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society. It also aims to raise awareness of the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip, according to the event’s organizers.
The event was scheduled to be attended by a number of Palestinian artists, including singer Eliana (Eliana Amer Marjieh), musician Saint Levant (Marwan Abdel Hamid), sub-singer Tarek Abu Kweik, and artist Malak Matar.
The event also featured Italian researcher and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who was recently sanctioned by the Trump administration, journalist Mehdi Hasan, broadcaster Louis Theroux, and Holocaust survivor Steven Kappus.
“Together we can raise millions of dollars in urgent aid for families in Gaza,” event host Eno wrote on Instagram. “Every penny donated will go to Palestinian partners through Choose Love, a UK charity that supports local humanitarian workers in conflict zones. But it’s more than just money. It’s a message of love and solidarity to the Palestinian people: that they have not been forgotten. We see them, we hear them, and despite the distance, we are deeply connected to them—as we are to all of humanity.”
“I hope tonight’s concert will have the same mobilizing effect as Nelson Mandela’s concert in 1988, and give people the courage to speak out about Gaza,” Eno told The Guardian.
The ceremony comes as Israel, with American support, continues its nearly two-year-long genocide in Gaza, leaving 65,062 Palestinians dead and 165,697 wounded, most of them women and children, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 428 Palestinians, including 146 children
