The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement said on Saturday evening that the Israeli occupation army’s announcement of the introduction of tents into the southern Gaza Strip, as part of its brutal assault to occupy Gaza City, is a blatant mockery of international conventions and a flagrant violation of “UN institutions,” which claim to exist to protect civilians and guarantee the rights of peoples under occupation. In a statement received by the agency, the Islamic Jihad movement added that forcing the displacement of citizens amidst the ongoing suffering of starvation, massacres, and displacement constitutes an ongoing crime against humanity.
It continued, “This criminal behavior in Gaza is inseparable from the series of daily crimes committed by the occupation in the occupied West Bank, where occupation forces continue their incursions, arrests, and raids, amid escalating armed attacks by settler gangs who openly fire on Palestinians in the streets and neighborhoods, burn property, and threaten the lives of innocent civilians under direct protection from the occupation army.”
Islamic Jihad emphasized that these daily practices constitute organized violence by the entity and unbridled violence by settlers, both of which serve a common goal: to expel Palestinians from their land and strip them of the most basic necessities of life.
It emphasized that the occupation authorities’ action to freeze the financial accounts of the Orthodox Church in Jerusalem is a step toward consolidating annexation and Judaization, and poses a direct threat to Islamic and Christian holy sites and endowments in Palestine.
It added that “we are witnessing a complete exposure of the incompetence of the international community and its institutions, which are content with repeated statements while the occupation continues to impose facts on the ground with unprecedented brutality.”
The Islamic Jihad movement concluded that international silence regarding these crimes only encourages the criminal entity to continue its aggressive policies and compels active forces and free peoples around the world to raise their voices in rejection of these policies, demanding an end to aggression and settlement terrorism, and supporting the Palestinian people.
