14 wounded in Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon

14 people were injured on Tuesday evening, following an Israeli drone attack on a town in southern Lebanon, in a new violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported in a statement that “the Israeli enemy’s raid on Nabatieh resulted in 14 people being injured, according to an updated toll.”

The ministry announced, in a previous statement, that 7 people were injured in a preliminary toll.

The official Lebanese News Agency said: “An Israeli hostile drone carried out a raid with a guided missile, targeting a pickup truck on the road to Al-Rawdat School in Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.”

She added that “the raid destroyed the car and injured 3 citizens who happened to be passing by the area, in addition to burning cars that were parked in the street.”

“The missile explosion also caused a huge sound that reverberated in various nearby areas,” the agency said.

The agency quoted the mayor of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Yasser Ghandour, as saying, “The Israeli enemy (…) is targeting civilians and the safe in their homes.”

He added that “the hostile march targeted a pickup truck used to load vegetables on the Nabatieh al-Fawqa highway,” denying that “any specific person” was targeted.

Later, the agency said: “The enemy drone renewed its air aggression, targeting the vicinity of the “Farah Rest House” on the Zawtar-Nabatieh al-Fawqa road with a guided missile.”

She added that this is “the second raid in less than an hour, after the raid that targeted a pickup truck in Nabatieh, and at a distance of less than 2 kilometers from the first raid.”

The town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa is about 50 km away from the southern border of Lebanon.

On the other hand, the Israeli army radio said, in a brief news report, that it launched an air strike on Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese army announced, in a statement earlier on Tuesday, that one of its soldiers and three citizens were injured by Israeli forces’ bullets in the south of the country.

On November 27, 2024, a ceasefire began, ending an exchange of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah that began on October 8, 2023, and turned into a full-scale war on September 23.
